1. Paid Time Off and Sick Leave
Cherokee Regional Medical Center recognized the importance of providing the opportunity for rest, recreation and personal activities. We grant paid time off to full-time and part-time employees. The amount of PTO that is earned is based on the hours worked per payroll. The accrual rate increases with years of service.
2. Health Insurance
Health insurance is available to both full and part time employees. Insurance coverage is effective the first of the month after 90 days of service. Employees working 16 hours or more may apply for this coverage. A percentage of the premium is paid by the hospital.
The Cherokee Regional Medical Center HealthCare Plan is a combination of a PPO and a comprehensive major medical plan. The PPO network is a combination of Midlands and our active medical staff.
3. Prescription Discounts
This benefit is offered to all employees through the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Pharmacy. The cost of each prescription is acquisition plus $1.00. This benefit is not extended to dependents.
4. Dental Insurance
Dental insurance is available to all employees working 16 hours or more per week and is effective after 3 months of employment. Employees may also elect to purchase family coverage.
5. Training and Continuing Education
In order to continue to meet our mission of providing quality healthcare services to the community, staff education is a priority at Cherokee Regional Medical Center. We require the completion of regular mandatory education and provide frequent education opportunities within the hospital.
6. Life Insurance
Full-time and part-time employees are eligible after one month of employment for a life insurance policy equal to 1 _ times their annual base salary up to a specified maximum.
7. Short Term & Long Term Disability
While under physician's care, full and part time employees working 16 hours or more a week will receive 60% of their base salary up to a maximum of $55.00 a day or $275.00 a week. Benefits for STD start with the 4th day of lost work time for illness and on the 1st day for lost time for accidents. Compensation is figured on scheduled days of work. The maximum length to received STD benefits is 26 weeks. Employees are eligible for LTD benefits after meeting the qualifying period of 6 months of short term disability. They are eligible for 60% of their weekly gross salary. The total premium for these benefits are paid by Cherokee Regional Medical Center.
8. Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Accounts
Eligible employees working full time and part time can contribute to dependent care and/or medical care spending accounts on a pre-tax basis. The monies deposited into these accounts can be used to pay dependent care expenses and unreimbursed medical and/or dental expenses. Employees are eligible to participate in this program with once a year election in December and new employees during the first thirty days from their hire date.
9. Pension Plan
To participate in this plan, the employee must be employed for one year, work 1,000 hours a year and be 21 years of age. Cherokee Regional Medical Center will match the contributions of eligible employees up to 4%. Employees are vested in the program after 3 years of service. Eligible employees may make voluntary contributions prior to being eligible for the employer match.
